Francesca Alviani, documentary photographer

Pragmatic Approach

With a pragmatic approach to photography, I bring a unique perspective shaped by my experience as a mother, empathizing with the challenges of capturing moments with demanding infants or young children. Adapting to various circumstances is a skill honed through living abroad for 17 years, necessitating the continual evolution of my craft in diverse settings. My background in marketing and communication underscores the pivotal role of visual communication in enhancing business endeavors.

Personalized
Outcomes

Placing paramount importance on client satisfaction, I prioritize your vision over artistic expression alone, tailoring my services to elevate your identity as a parent and entrepreneur. Rather than imposing a rigid methodology, I align my work with your objectives to deliver personalized outcomes.

Empathic
Photography

Proficient in active listening and visualizing images before capturing them, I create a welcoming environment that fosters comfort and empathy. Acknowledging the vulnerability that may arise when revealing aspects of motherhood or brand representation before the lens, I guide you through a journey of self-discovery with sensitivity and devoid of judgment, ensuring your emotional well-being throughout the process.

How to book
a photo shoot?

What is documentary-style photography and what to expect
01.
Your booking

If you are interested in one of my services, send me an e-mail using the contact form on this website. After the first contact by e-mail, I will send you a price list and a questionnaire. If you would like to book, I will send you an invitation for a short phone call (about 15 minutes), during which we will together find the right package for your needs. During the phone call we can go over further details, and I will answer all your questions and find a date for the photo shoot together. I will then send you a contract. Only once you have signed the contract and paid a deposit of 200 euro will the appointment be set. You will then receive a confirmation of the appointment by e-mail.

02.
YOUR PHOTO SHOOT: FREE FROM PERFECTION

Our photo shoot together will be stress-free!
I will not ask you to wear certain clothes, to behave in a certain way for me and my camera, to go to a specific place just because "it is nice there" or to ask you to smile because I want you to! It will be different and fun! You can go about your daily activities and I will record your life or business with my photos. It doesn't matter what the weather is like or where you want to take the photos. It is always the right time and place for a documentary photo shoot with me!

03.
POST PRODUCTION AND DELIVERY

My work does not end after the photo shoot! On the contrary... for me the longest and most important phase begins.
Your photos are selected, professionally edited in high resolution and uploaded to an online gallery. I also attribute great importance to authenticity in post production. When I select the photos for your gallery from the many images taken, I consciously choose the moments that tell your story.
Post production can take up to 4 weeks. You will then receive digital files that you can download in web and print format.

Family photography

Documentary-style Photography is a style of photography that captures real-life moments and genuine emotions in an unposed, natural way. It focuses on telling a story through candid images, reflecting authentic interactions and true expressions. Unlike traditional portrait lifestyle photography, documentary photography emphasizes the spontaneous and the everyday, creating a visual narrative that is both personal and timeless. My approach ensures that the photographs are not only visually appealing but also deeply meaningful, offering a genuine glimpse into you and your family’s lives and personalities.

When you book a photoshoot with me, we start with an initial consultation via a consultation call or in-person over coffee or tea. During this consultation we’ll find out if we vibe and what would be the best package for you. If it's all green lights, we move on to contract signing and secure your date!

The photoshoot happens at a location of your choosing, be it your home, office or outdoors. I capture candid, natural moments without posing or staging, meaning you go about your daily activities while I document your story. Afterward, I professionally edit the photos, focusing on authenticity, and deliver them via a secure online gallery within four weeks. Your unique moments are preserved in high-quality digital files.

You choose where: The photo shoot will happen in your home or a familiar place of your choosing. This is more relaxing than hauling your family to a studio, especially for your kids.

You choose when: A documentary photo shoot with me adapts to your schedule. You will not have to change your daily routines with your family or at work.

You get to be yourselves: I'll capture the real moments and connections between you and your family members as they happen. I will never instruct you to pose or look a certain way.

Your family’s real story: We embrace the challenges that are a natural part of family life. We will tell your unique story with all its love, imperfections and chaos.

I will edit your images within 3-4 weeks. You’ll receive a link to your private and custom gallery where you’ll be able to view all your images and purchase prints.

Our photo shoot together will be stress-free!

I will not ask you to wear certain clothes, act for me and my camera, move somewhere just because “it's nice there” or ask you to smile because I want you to!

Our photoshoot will be natural and fun! You go about your daily activities and I accompany you, document them, and tell a story about your life with my photos.

It doesn't matter what the weather is like or where you want to take the photos. It's always the right moment and the right place for a documentary family photo shoot with me.

If you permit me to publish your photos, you will receive a 10% discount on your photos and a surprise gift as a thank you. Granting me permission means:I will be allowed to use the images from your photoshoot for my social media channels, homepage, portfolio or prints (flyers, press articles, blog posts, exhibitions). Of course you will be given the opportunity to exclude individual pictures from publication before they are published. A publication agreement is always greatly appreciated as it helps me with giving other families an insight into my work.

No problem!
As a mom myself, I know how quickly life gets in the way.
Please just let me know in good time and I’ll be happy to arrange a new appointment.
Of course, I myself am also not immune to diseases. If I have to cancel due to illness, you can:
Schedule a new date with me
or
Request a refund of the advance payment

I offer different packages with different amounts of photos. You can decide on the amount before or after the photoshoot. You may also request all photos to be edited if you do not want to miss anything. I will share my price guide with you after you send me an inquiry.

Yes! After taking a course in printing photos I understand how important it is to come back to the root of photography: printing our photos as high quality wall art prints. I want to offer you the pleasure to showcase your family photos in your home and keep these memories close to you.  In my price list you will find my offers for print products. If you require consultation, feel free to reach out!

Mostly yes, but I love traveling and I spend several weeks in Italy every year, where we can also schedule a photoshoot. If you’re planning your holidays there or live in Italy, feel free to contact me about it. With a bit of luck I’ll be close by!

Business photography

When it comes to business photography you will encounter the additional cost of “photo licensing and usage rights”.

A photo license is in essence a contract defining the conditions of use for an image. The license will cover how and for how long the image will be used.

The usage rights refer to the permission to use, reproduce, edit or publish my photos.

Your individual photo license and usage rights will be stated in your contract.

Photo licensing and usage rights are what allow commercial use of your photos. Defining these rights is an important part of protecting my artistic work from unauthorized use.

For you this means that you should think about how and where you want to use the photos created in our personal branding shoot (e.g. on your website, social media or for PR measures). But don’t worry: I will help you get that sorted out in our consultation call.

After you send an inquiry about a business photo shoot, I will share a questionnaire with you and we will schedule a call to discuss your shoot. Additionally we can schedule a second short call (15 minutes maximum) if there are details left to discuss after our first call.

Mainly this means that I want to show more than just a business portrait of you. We will communicate your personality and your passion to your community. So yes, the photo shoot will be planned but in a way that has a touch of the documentary style and will result in authentic and unique photos.

The location where you usually work is the most appropriate setting for the photos. If your workplace won’t do, we can find a fitting solution together. My offers and prices do not include a fixed location.

You have a question that wasn’t answered in this FAQ?

Do you have more questions or would like an individual offer? No problem!

Just send me a message using the contact form below and we'll arrange an appointment for a phone call where we can discuss everything. Uncomplicated and non-binding.

I look forward to meeting you and telling your story!
